Stahl Lecture Series

Stahl Lecture SeriesThe Stahl Lecture Series is named for the late University of Colorado Philosophy Professor, Dr. Gary Stahl, who helped make the lecture series and the Grillo Center a reality.

Four lectures take place each year. Popular and timely topics are addressed by local experts. The lectures are recorded and broadcast by Municipal Channel 8. The recordings become a part of the Boulder Public Library's collection.

Programs are free and open to the public, and are held at the Canyon Theater, Main Library, 1000 Canyon Blvd.

"The Basics of Weight Loss: How to Lose Weight and Feel Healthier"
with Bonnie T. Jortberg, MS, RD, CDE

Bonnie is a Senior Instructor and the Education Specialist for Predoctoral Education in the Department of Family Medicine (DFM). Bonnie has been at UCD since 1995, starting in the Department of Preventive Medicine as one of the study coordinators for the Diabetes Prevention Program. She then moved to the Center for Human Nutrition where she was the Program Director for the Colorado Weigh, a community-based weight management program.

Bonnie currently teaches nutrition and preventive health courses in the UCD School of Medicine and develops curriculum on prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease. She is also a faculty member of the American Dietetic Association and has lectured around the country about obesity prevention and treatment.
